Piracy in music industry will become history soon - Olisa Adibua

Music executive and director, Young Nation, Olisa Adibua, said piracy in Nigeria’s entertainment industry will soon become “a thing of the past”.

Adibua said the burgeoning digital platforms in place will put pirates out of business.
He urged young artistes to be original, hardworking and respectful to be able to make a mark in their careers.

“Music should promote the rights of the people, democracy and societal values.

“Piracy will become a thing of the past soon with the digital platform.”

Also speaking on piracy, a young artiste signed to Young Nation, Chike Madu, said the scourge has eaten up the efforts of Nigerian artistes.

Madu, an Afro hip-hop and highlife musician, spoke at the unveiling of his song, Kampe.

“Piracy is a war that the entertainment industry has been fighting in Nigeria and Africa as a whole,” he said.

He continued, “We are asking regulatory agencies to look into it the more, piracy makes us not to gain from what we worked for.

“People spend days in studios to come up with something good but earn nothing at the end of the day because of piracy.”
