Lionel Messi: Argentina captain abandons friendly vs Spain after 6th goal

Argentina were defeated 6-1 by Spain in an international friendly match.

Barcelona star Lionel Messi abandoned Argentina’s match against Spain after his side conceded the sixth goal.

Messi who missed Argentina’s 6-1 defeat to Spain due to a hamstring injury which also ruled him out of their previous match against Italy.
The two-time world champions were beaten via goals from Thiago Alcantara, Iago Aspas and a hat-trick from Real Madrid’s Isco Alarcón.

Messi was at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano to support his teammates but ended up watching his teammates being humiliated by Spain.
According to a report by the Mirror, Messi had enough after Argentina conceded the sixth goal, as he made his way to the exit.
Messi watched the game alongside West Ham midfielder Manuel Lanzini who he reportedly said goodbye to as he left his seat.

Speaking after the game Argentina head coach Jorge Sampaoli stated that his team was defeated by a strong Spanish side and that Messi came with the team.
He said, "The players made a great effort against a very oiled Spanish team, Messi accompanied us at all times."
"The players tried to find the opposing goal, and when we had the chance to do it, we did not do it and they were very precise."
After missing Argentina’s friendlies during the international break Messi faces a race to be fit for Barcelona’s next La Liga fixture against Sevilla on Saturday, March 31.
