Sam was lost in his thoughts as he entered the station and so did not see the female officer blocking his path until he bumped into her. 'Hey grumpy, you know you won't get fired if you smile right? ' Sam looked at the officer and couldn't help but smile at her.
'I know that, Sally. I've just got a lot on my plate '. 'Yeah, I heard that the Angel of death has come out of retirement '. 'Either that or his evil son has come of age', Sam replied.
'I could help you work the case if you want me to', offered Sally. Sam considered it for a moment. Sally was not just any pretty looking cop. She could shoot better than most cops and was also one of the best detectives available.

The only problem was that he had always had a thing for Sally and didn't want to cloud his judgment with emotions. 'I need all the help I can get' he thought. 'Alright let's work together ', he finally answered and went into the Chief's office to make his report.
'Sam are you sure that you don't want to sit this one out? This could take more than the three months remaining before your retirement. ' 'I want to give it my last and best shot Sir ', besides I have detective Sally helping me. She can continue the investigation if I retire. '
'Alright carry on and I hope this investigation will not be a waste of manpower and resources just like the previous cases.'
Sam left the Chief's office and went to his desk and started to review the case reports with Sally.
